The Future Land Use Plan is one of the most important components of the Comprehensive Plan. It establishes a long-term vision for how Sanford and Springvale should grow, evolve, and be conserved over the next decade. The plan helps answer questions such as:
- Where should new housing be encouraged?
- Where should new businesses and jobs locate?
- Which areas are best suited for reinvestment and redevelopment?
- What natural resources, agricultural lands, and open spaces should be protected?
- How can growth occur in a way that strengthens community character and quality of life?
The results will be used alongside technical analysis, demographic trends, housing and economic data, environmental considerations, and stakeholder input to develop the Future Land Use Plan and Future Land Use Map.
